Cultural Programming & Speaking

Where music, history, and ideas come together. Alyssa earned a Master of Arts in Black American Musicology in 2019. She uses her research and discovery to create thought-provoking cultural experiences, workshops, and presentations for organizations, conferences, universities, and community audiences—bringing together her expertise as an artist, educator, and music scholar.

Music With Meaning

Music has always been more than entertainment. It carries history, reflects culture, gives voice to communities, and helps us understand the moments that shape us.

Alyssa Harris Music creates cultural programs that use live music as a starting point for deeper exploration—connecting audiences with the stories, artists, movements, and traditions behind the music.

Beyond the Concert

Cultural programming can take many forms. A program might combine live performance with storytelling, historical context, multimedia, audience participation, spoken word, discussion, or guest contributors to create an experience that is both entertaining and meaningful.

From a powerful concert experience to an interactive educational program, each concept is thoughtfully shaped around the audience, organization, and occasion.

Programs Built Around Your Purpose

Whether you're planning a Juneteenth celebration, Black History Month program, Women's History Month event, MLK commemoration, heritage celebration, university program, community event, or conference, Alyssa Harris Music can develop a musical experience that speaks directly to the moment.

Existing programs can be presented as featured experiences, or a completely custom concept can be developed around your organization's theme, audience, and goals.

Musicology Meets the Stage

With an academic background in music history and years of professional experience as a performing artist, Alyssa brings both scholarship and lived experience to her work.

Her programs explore not only what we hear, but why it matters—examining the cultural context, people, and stories that give music its power.

For Conferences & Organizations

Alyssa also brings this perspective into conference and professional settings through keynote presentations, artist talks, educational workshops, moderated conversations, and interactive sessions.

Topics can explore music, creativity, cultural history, the entertainment industry, artistic identity, and the ways music connects to larger social and cultural movements.

Have a theme, initiative, or cultural moment in mind? Let's create something around it.
